An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Horticulturist, with a passion for training and inspiring young people. As a practical Instructor, you will support the teaching staff and students across all courses within the College’s specialist Horticulture programmes, other duties will include resourcing plant material and tools for the students and maintaining equipment and resources. There will be a requirement to ensure the gardens/grounds and practice areas are maintained in a sustainable way and meet exemplary horticultural standards at all times. You will be responsible for liaising with The Royal Parks and The Crown Estate to secure practical work for students as well as developing additional relationships with external stakeholders
The ideal candidate will bring a broad range of industry skills, including the ability to operate, maintain, and repair horticultural machinery, as well as experience working in a training or education setting. A Level 2 qualification in Horticulture is essential, and holding a PA1/PA6 certificate is desirable.
This role requires someone who is highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work flexibly and independently to support the smooth delivery of practical courses and assessments.
You will work in conjunction with a part-time Technician to ensure effective day-to-day operations and collaborate with Practical Instructor colleagues across other campuses. Travel to other sites may be required to provide additional support when needed.
