  • About The Role and Person

  • Inspire ambition. Shape futures.

Capel Manor College is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Careers Lead to lead and develop an outstanding careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) service that helps every learner achieve their potential.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the College's careers strategy at a time of significant growth. Working across our specialist land-based provision, you'll ensure learners receive high-quality careers guidance while developing innovative employer partnerships, progression opportunities and careers programmes that prepare students for successful futures.

Alongside leading our careers service, you'll work closely with our Employer Skills, Innovation & Growth Directorate to support major initiatives including London Talent Pathways, helping to connect learners with employers, apprenticeships, higher education and sustainable employment opportunities across London.

If you're an experienced careers professional looking for a role where you can influence strategy whilst continuing to work directly with learners, we'd love to hear from you.

    About the role

As Senior Careers Lead, you'll provide both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery, ensuring our careers provision continues to meet and exceed national quality standards.

You'll lead the development of an engaging careers programme across all College campuses, embedding careers education throughout the learner journey and ensuring every student has access to impartial, high-quality careers advice.

Working with curriculum teams, employers, universities, apprenticeship providers and external partners, you'll create meaningful opportunities that broaden aspirations and improve progression into employment, apprenticeships and higher education.

You'll also play an important role in supporting employment-focused initiatives such as London Talent Pathways, helping learners access career opportunities and strengthening employer engagement across the College.

This is a full-time, term-time only role working 37 weeks per year. The actual salary is £32,124.95 to £33,962.21 inclusive of London Weighting.

    What you'll be doing

    • Lead the strategic development of careers education, information, advice and guidance across the College.
    • Deliver high-quality one-to-one careers guidance and group careers education sessions.
    • Design and coordinate an engaging annual careers programme across multiple campuses.
    • Ensure the College continues to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks, Matrix Standard and Ofsted expectations.
    • Develop strong partnerships with employers, universities, apprenticeship providers and other external organisations.
    • Coordinate careers events, employer encounters, higher education activities and progression opportunities.
    • Lead the College's UCAS support and higher education progression activities.
    • Use labour market intelligence and progression data to continuously improve careers provision.
    • Support learners to make informed decisions about education, training and employment.
    • Work collaboratively with curriculum teams to embed careers learning across the curriculum.
    • Contribute to the delivery of London Talent Pathways and wider employability initiatives by supporting progression into sustainable employment.

    What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced careers professional who combines strategic thinking with a genuine passion for supporting learners.

You'll have experience delivering high-quality careers guidance within education and be confident leading programmes that improve learner outcomes.

You'll enjoy building relationships with employers and external partners and be motivated by creating opportunities that help learners succeed.

Above all, you'll believe that outstanding careers guidance can transform lives.

    Why join Capel Manor College?

At Capel Manor College, we're passionate about helping learners develop the skills, confidence and ambition to succeed.

As Senior Careers Lead, you'll have the opportunity to shape careers education across one of the UK's leading specialist colleges, working with employers, universities and industry partners to create meaningful progression opportunities for our learners.

You'll join an ambitious Employer Skills, Innovation & Growth Directorate delivering innovative employment, careers and skills programmes across London, with excellent opportunities for professional development and the chance to make a lasting impact on learners, employers and communities.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, generous annual leave, Local Government Pension Scheme membership and the opportunity to be part of a friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team.

If you're ready to lead an outstanding careers service and help shape the next generation of talent, we'd love to hear from you.
