Marketing and Student Recruitment Performance Team Leader

I started my apprenticeship with Capel Manor College in July 2023 and finished my apprenticeship in September 2024 after achieving a Distinction. Throughout my apprenticeship and within my permanent position, working in the IT department is an incredibly enriching experience. I went straight into an apprenticeship from college and I don't look back on my decision, and with this being my first full-time job it has provided a vast variety of IT-related tasks, all of which I can use in my professional career. My colleagues have always been incredibly supportive and this allows the whole department to continuously thrive. I am based within first line IT support but that doesn't stop my personal growth because of the exceptional development opportunities I am consistently presented with. I hope to keep developing under Capel Manor College, having built my professional foundations here, and since seamlessly transitioning into my permanent position, I have partaken in many further professional development opportunities, provided by Capel Manor College.

Max Anslow - Technology Support Technician

I’m employed in the finance department, specifically focusing on sales and credit control at Capel Manor College. The workplace is truly delightful, thanks to its serene and vibrant surrounding. I find enjoyment in exploring the College’s history. Capel Manor College stands out for its uniqueness, offering a variety of activities and lovely events that both enrich and engage, which attracted me to the job.

 

Maimuna Icaré - Finance Ledger Administrator

I’ve worked at the College for over fifteen years and currently teach Horticulture Apprentices the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the workplace. The thing I enjoy most about working at the College is working with the learners and seeing them grow in confidence and become the new generation of horticulturalists. I was attracted to the College because I enjoy working outside and being hands on, but I have also enjoy working with people and supporting and encouraging them to fulfil their potential.

 

Ashley Chamberlain - Horticulture Apprenticeship Trainer

I’ve been with Capel Manor College for eight years, starting as a casual Learning Support Assistant before progressing to a teaching role in the English and Maths department. Now, I am a Team Leader, managing a cross-campus team. I appreciate the friendly staff and the College’s beautiful grounds, making work enjoyable. Capel excels in supporting staff through CPD opportunities; they assisted me in obtaining my teaching qualification and QLTS. The ongoing support has allowed me to advance into a management role, showcasing Capel’s commitment to staff development and helping them to realise their potential.

 

Rebecca Demetriou - English Team Leader

2024 marks five years of employment for me at Capel Manor College and Gardens, working in the Commercial and Events Team. Since I started, I have seen a huge development throughout the years especially in the CPD opportunities. I can easily say there are not many places around like Capel Manor, as it is very unique in its own right. Capel Manor is London’s only environmental college whilst also being a happy place for garden visitors who can explore enjoy the beautiful 30-acre grounds, enjoyed by families and adults of all ages. I, myself have learnt so much about gardens and the history of the estate whilst working here and I am learning more every day. I am very grateful that I stumbled across the opportunity as I cannot think of a better suited environment for me. I love seeing the gardens flourish throughout the seasons and my favourite time in the year for the gardens has to be May and June.
